Good, but definitely not your best

This song is catchy, but its very repetitive. I for one, love the frequency shift. Great move there. But its is repetitive and the drums are horribly fake. Try some velocity changes to make them sound a little better. and maybe turn down the volume on the hats a bit.
Its got the classic cornandbeans energy to it, but it lacks the finesse and attention to detail that you usually have in your songs. This is definitely a work in progress. Nice start tho!

cornandbeans responds:

I added in a really low, distorted pad in the background, I don't know if you can pick it up or not. When one thing sounds distorted, It tends to make other things sound distored as well. I just got a really nice pack of drum samples, so I don't think that realism will be much of a problem anymore. :) Thanks for the review!

Nice laid back chiller.

Anoher cool laid back piece. This is the kind of thing that I would listen to while cruising in my car! Great stuff! The pads or w/e they are that fade in sound kind of lo-fi. Did you bitcrush them on purpose?

Overall, very nice. Definitely movie-worthy. Thats cool enough in its own right.

DJCityScape responds:

i had fun with the bitcrushing of the strings.

Very nice!!

I actually heard this yesterday but forgot to leave a review for it! Great tune. Not excatly my style, but that doesn't mask the fact that this is very well done! I have a few suggestions. The backing synths sound kind of muffled, try to get a little more treble and/or resonance on them. The lead is good. The drums could also use some more variation to create a bit of a climax in the piece. Overall, very good, but a few tweaks will make this AMAZING!

Great work. Keep it up!!

Father-of-Death responds:

thnx man you are my family now! lol jk

i love you...

Wow!!

I like this one a lot better than Stormy Seas. This is absolutely excellent! There were parts I could swear it was a real orchestra! This excellent! I really can't find anything with this one! I love it!

A+++

7/5 (if only I could vote like that)

DavidOrr responds:

Wow! I love this piece too (the original was A New Hero, but this one is much higher quality).

The only thing I regret is not running it through a compressor, the dynamics vary too much for it to be a piece you can easily listen to without having your finger on the volume control.

Thanks for the reviews! I'll have to pay your page another visit soon :).

Very nice.

Sounds are used excellently. Overall this piece is absolutely bitchin! I have EWQLSO as well so I know how hard it is to make this stuff sound good and you do a fantasic job. I think the biggest thing holding this back is lack of arrangement. You need more variatiion and there are a lot of techniques you could learn to boost this ito the categoy of UNTOUCHABLE because right now it sitting just below at OMGAWESOME level. :P

Great job. Very nice. Very driving epic piece.
Keep it up.

DavidOrr responds:

In my opinion EWQLSO is one of the best libraries for a great "out of the box" sound. The solo instruments are a pain to get to sound decent, but many of them are very nice to begin with (unlike the GPO sounds, which you really have to tweak to make them sound good).

Great to get your opinion and feedback, thanks for the review!

Huh?

OOWWWW! This piece is clipping all over the place and that strumming is way too loud. What can i say about this piece, if used as aloop it could be a nice little tune, strange as it is. This is just random strums on what sounds like a really bad distorted steel guitar. This needs a lot more to be considered anything beyond just a really messed up loop.

rioross responds:

ya it has not much of a purpose.

Great song

Again, the first thing that strikes me about your work is absolutely awesome guitar recording/playing. Very clean and very well done. Drums are really nice in this song and don't sound fake at all! Song just kinda drones on though. Get more climaxes and or breaks in the song. Make it really interesting and fun. Lyrics are a must for this track.

Overall, really nice and very well executed. Nice song. Arrangement is a little on the boring side, but overall it is very good.

Scribbler responds:

Thanks man,

I always try to get the best quality out of my tracks when I record. Once this gets some nice vocals and lyrics, it will sound better, trust me. Thanks for the great review!

Nice guitar work.

The recording of the guitar is very clean and very well done. Drums are fakey and akward. The song itself doesn't really do much. Would make an excellent loop for something. Ending is okay, its just like the rest of the so it fits. Nice little bonus track at the end. I like it!

Overall, nice execution, but the idea of it being a full song is pretty bland. Would make an awesome loop though! Nice!

Scribbler responds:

Yeah, I agree, the guitar sounds fine but the drums do sound really fake, I don't know what happened when I rendered the song. The drums sounded fine before.

Maybe this should become a loop.

Nice short piece

I like it but OWWW! tone down those strings at the beginning! Too loud! Overall its nice as simplistic as it may be. When the bas comes in, it sounds very muddy and loses its clairty. The whistle-type thing at the end is a nice touchg, but its sounds noisy. Try to eliminate that.

Over nice short loop.

loser2013 responds:

hehehe okay but this is my first ever song, i dont even know how to play keyboards!

Great work. Variety and style!

This is a great piece. It's definitely got a classic style to it but at the same time, it is very fresh and never lets you lose interest. Very good, very bad-ass track! Great job! Only thing I can u=suggest is maybe a bit more bass/low mid presence as it sounds sort of weak on my headphones.

Helix6 responds:

I know! The bass is actually (strangely) the hardest part for me to really build into a song in a balanced yet powerful way! Arg!
